Mussel shell animals are found clinging to large tide pool rocks near the ocean shore. People and sea animals like Sea Gulls and Otters harvest them for food. Many times they eat them there on the spot and leave the leftover shells. The shells are sometimes found whole or in broken pieces. The ocean waves end up tumbling these shells back and forth on the coastline and many pieces are found worn with smooth edges from this process. I like to collect these pieces and match two similar sizes to make earrings. The colors of these mussel shell pieces vary in different colors of faded to strong dark blue. I relate some of them to the color of denim jeans therefore I think they are perfect to wear when you're wearing anything denim blue.
