I make baskets from yucca leaves which vary in lenght from 12" to 24". There are many species of yucca plants. I don't know the name of this specie but it is a common yucca plant found in many California neighborhoods and yards. I came across with some leaves that were damaged and not good for making a basket. However, the wide end of the leaf was still in good shape and pretty in different shades of yellow. The ends have a raw feather edge to them and almost give the effect of being feathers. I decided to experiment in cutting them into interesting shapes for earrings and found them to be strong and durable to wear plus very light. I, also, found people asking me about them whenever I wore them. They are pretty and a great conversation piece of jewelry.
