These seed pods come from the Incense Fir tree that I find where I live in Northern California. When the seed pod matures and dries it bursts open in two places to form this shape. Originally there were seeds between these three pieces. Afterwards wind blows them out of the tree. I was really facinated when I first saw them on the ground and thought they were beautiful enough shapes to wear as earrings. I use copper wire and different colors of glass seed beads to vary the length of the earrings. I connect them to stainless steel ear wires.
