One day I watched a squirrel drop a pine cone and the pine cone broke into the individual scales which I found out are called bracts. I looked at them up close and thought they were beautiful enough to make earrings out of them. Some types of pine cone bracts have interesting markings on them that, also, add to their beauty. I look for and collect them off of the ground and sort them by close to same size pairs. I use copper wire and small seed beads to attach them to stainless steel ear wires.
