Keyhole limpet shells are from sea shell animals that live on tide pool rocks by the ocean. There are many varieties. I find these shells in the sand after the animal dies or loses its shell. They have a hole at the top of their cone like shell and so I thought they would make interesting earrings. These shells have varying colors of stripes and it's amazing how different each one is and their sizes vary, also. It is not easy matching together two for a pair of earrings even if you have a lot of these shells to choose from. I try to get as close as I can but don't expect them to be perfectly matched. I use copper wire and different color combinations of seed beads to attach to stainless steel earwires.
